Physical Education (PE)

At Ormiston Meadows Academy we recognise the importance physical education plays in the curriculum and a child’s development. We aim to provide a PE curriculum that pupils from Reception to Year 6 not only enjoy but also allows them to experience a range of sports and activities that help them to develop their health, fitness and wellbeing allowing them to be physically active for sustained periods, as well as developing their resilience when approaching new experiences. Physical education at Ormiston Meadows Academy is linked to PSHE, supporting children to understand how to lead a healthy lifestyle, the impact exercise can have on mental health. In addition, through physical education we aim to develop the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding so that they can increase their confidence and competence in many different physical activities as well as everyday life, such as communicating and collaborating effectively with others and building respectful relationships with their peers. We intend to offer all children at Ormiston Meadows Academy a high-quality physical education curriculum that inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physical activities, as well as developing their self-worth and always being proud of their achievements, always striving for excellence in all they do.
