Be your Best, Expect the Best, Succeed Together

Thank you for visiting our website.  I hope it will enable you to find the information you are looking for, as well as giving you a real insight into what a happy place of learning Ormiston Meadows Primary Academy is.

‘Be your Best, Expect the Best, Succeed Together’ is our academy philosophy and motto. We are all committed to giving our children the best possible start in life, as we strive to ensure that our academy becomes outstanding.

We are very proud of our academy, our children; their achievements and their successes. Ofsted noted our ‘Pupils behaviour is good and respectful both in lessons and at playtimes, resulting in a purposeful learning environment in which to learn (September 2016).

It is my aim that every child here at Ormiston Meadows Primary Academy is given the best opportunity to meet their goals, to flourish as an individual and develop in all ways- socially, emotionally and educationally – to the very best of their ability.

It is very important to us that every child is valued as an individual and that their unique qualities are recognised. We take frequent opportunities to celebrate positive attitudes and efforts as they strive for success in every aspect of school life.

Our children are motivated and inspired through our curriculum which is based on learning challenges, planned in response to their needs and interests. With the right balance of challenge and support, children are actively involved in a range of memorable learning experiences which promote creativity, independence and enjoyment. We aim to provide a wide range of opportunities including enrichment activities which give every child the chance to shine and to be their best.

Working with our families, Ormiston Meadows is proud to become a partner in your child’s life. We encourage a close and supportive relationship between home and school and welcome parents and carers as active partners in their child’s learning.

I look forward to meeting you personally. You are welcome to visit our community, to step inside Ormiston Meadows Primary Academy and experience our philosophy for yourself.

Mrs J Watt

Ormiston Meadows Academy, part of Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT), is celebrating following the success of students Ryan Smith and Darcy Reynolds, at this year’s OAT Annual Awards. Year 6 student, Ryan, won the ‘Academic Accomplishment in Maths and English’ Award, sponsored by Onecom, and Darcy won the ‘Young Hero’ Award sponsored by TES, after hundreds of nominations were submitted by OAT’s 36 academies across the country. The Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) Awards, now in their fourth year, recognise and celebrate the achievements of exceptional students and teachers from across the OAT network of academies, at an award ceremony in London. Ryan always strives to do his best in school, and is always actively seeking how he can improve, to achieve his targets. He is a hugely talented writer and his skills are shown in his work throughout the curriculum, as well as showing the same determination in maths. Ryan has made excellent progress during his time in Key Stage 2 at the academy and is achieving above the expected level in core subjects, as a result of his effort and hard work.

Brilliant Club

Coverage from the Evening Telegraph following the launch for this years Brilliant Club for some of our Year 5 pupils.

Twelve Year 5 pupils at Ormiston Meadows Academy, part of the Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) attended the prestigious Gonville and Caius University for the launch of the Brilliant Club programme. The Brilliant Club is a charity which works to widen young people’s access to university by placing PhD candidates in schools to mentor students, and has been working in partnership with the academy to broaden pupils’ horizons and raise aspirations. The programme will see the PhD tutors visit the pupils at the Academy every week in school, where they will run study skills sessions for a period of six weeks. At the end of the programme, the pupils will be tasked with writing a 1,000 word essay that will be graded by their tutor. Jean Watt, Principal at the Academy, said: “At Ormiston Meadows Academy, as with all academies within Ormiston Academies Trust, our vision and aims are to ensure children are given the best life chances possible. Working with the Brilliant Club provides us with more opportunities to stretch and challenge our most able pupils and inspire them so they have the best chance to reach their full potential.”
